In this article new or revised etymologies are proposed for Modern West Frisian eart(e) ‘leftover food; leave over food’, rite ‘short period; mood’, ealtsjes ‘slightly, gently’, tsjitte ‘to twitter; to quarrel’, tsiere ‘to quarrel’ and -spa(de), -spar(re), spaai(ke) ‘spade’ as well as for Old West Frisian binnen split ‘having a cut in the inner webbing of the foot (swan mark)’.
