Abstract

This article deals with the question what the AFUK (Algemiene Fryske Underrjocht
Kommisje = General Frisian Education Board) has achieved over the past ten years with regard to language purification ('correct Frisian') and the necessary standard. The AFUK is involved in this both as a teaching organisation and as a publisher of especially teaching material. The conclusion is that a well-defined and unanimously accepted standard is a conditio sine qua non for the further development of Frisian as a national and literary language.
