Abstract

One of the most important Middle Frisian literary works of the eighteenth century is the anonymous prose work It libben fen Aagtje IJsbrants (1779). Though in a letter of 1815 Eelke Meinerts (1732-1810) is mentioned as its author, this authorship has recently been contested. In this contribution it is pointed out that Eelke Meinerts is also mentioned as the author of Aagtje IJsbrants in a book list of one of his friends of 1799. There is therefore no reason to doubt his authorship.
