Samenvatting

This article discusses Bavinck’s concept of the organic in two stages. First, it analyzes Bavinck’s use of this concept in his recently republished Amsterdam dogmatics lectures. Second, a general discussion of Bavinck’s concept of the organic critically engages James Eglington’s trinitarian interpretation of this concept. In conclusion this study affirms the analogy between the Trinity and the organic in created and recreated reality, but argues that Bavincks’ concept of organic must be interpreted primarily in terms of creation and Christology.
