THE REMAINING RELEVANCE OF THE OLD TESTAMENT LAWS. This article gives an overview of Christian hermeneutic approaches to the Old Testament laws. The tripartite division in moral, civil and cultic laws is evaluated. Several modern approaches are reviewed and special attention is given to perspectives held by Messianic Jews. After a discussion of the relation between the Old en New Testaments in general, it is argued that Christians can have much profit from the laws when the underlying principles are detected and applied to modern situations.
