Samenvatting

Many movies contain themes connected with religious interests, or treat explicitly
religious themes. Watching a movie itself can also be a religious experience. For these
reasons movies can be an important medium for a congregation to discover such
themes or religious interests in their own cultural context. Watching and discussing a
movie helps the congregation to interpret this artistic medium and to interpret their
own cultural context. This article argues that watching and discussing movies is an
important contribution to youth ministry, preaching, worship, and pastoral ministry.
