Samenvatting

Neo-Calvinism is characterized by three themes: the doctrine of regeneration in its relation to
infant baptism, the emphasis on the pure church, and the concept of common grace. Studying the Neo-Calvinistic heritage is helpful to understand current positions. In this article the position in Neo-Calvinism is summarized mainly from the Christian Encyclopedia (1925). In retro perspective Neo-Calvinism seems to have been too optimistic about the new-born Christian, about the purified church, and about the Christianization of culture.
