Samenvatting

In this paper it is argued that contemporary evolutionary theory confronts Christian theology with certain serious challenges. Two fundamentally different approaches to deal with these challenges are examined: concordism and perspectivism. It is concluded that although perspectivism is the more attractive option, it suffers from some crucial weaknesses. Especially, it can’t do justice to the overarching biblical narrative of creation, fall and redemption. Therefore, the author explores a more satisfactory way of relating the biblical witness to evolutionary theory.
