Samenvatting

This article reflects on the relevancy of a ‘Believers Church’ ecclesiology for the twenty-first
century. What constitutes a church are believers, coming together in Christ’s name and following Him as a brotherhood of disciples. The church is not yet complete, but (always) in the process of being formed. Therefore ecclesiology is reconsidered through the work of the Spirit, Who arouses faith and bestows His gifts on every member of the church. This makes a difference in respect to baptism as well as to holding an office. Baptism requires faith and the spiritual gift comes before fulfilling office. From a missionary as well as a Biblical point of view, the ‘Believers Church’ might be the church form for the future.
