Abstract

Recent literature in the study of the doctrine of the trinity identifies its practical relevance
with the social analogy of the Trinity. This article argues that this identification is
misleading. Building on Herman Bavinck's views this article distinguishes five aspects
of the doctrine's practical relevance: the soteriological, relational, hermeneutical, regulative,
and social.
