Samenvatting

Reformed ecclesiology and its theology of ministry are rooted in Christology, especially when viewed from the point of view of the means of the representation of Christ. Suggestions that pneumatology pay more attention to the congregation, end up setting Pneumatology against Christology, and a functional against an ontological understanding of office. This essay argues that a trinitarian and relational view provide new foundation for ordained ministry, instead of the ‘oppositional’ understanding of office. A relational understanding creditsboth pneumatology and Christology, and therefore the representation of Christ representation is not limited to the minister, but is still an important element of understanding office.
