Samenvatting

According to Dutch theologians W. Dekker, W. Dekker and A. van de Beek, the secularization and marginalization of church and belief in the Netherlands is a judgment of God. For that reason this is not the appropriate time for any missionary endeavour. This article provides an empirical and theological evaluation of the so-called judgment motif, and concludes that this judgment claim needs to be nuanced because it sets up an unnecessary polarization between judgment and missions.
