Een gouden draad in een gevarieerd patroon. Het verbond van God als kernbegrip in Christus’ Kerk
Samenvatting
This article underlines the central place and crucial role which the covenant plays in God’s way with humanity in general but Israel specifically. It is argued that in both Old and New testament the covenant is the central theme of the biblical metanarrative. Special attention is given to the ‘new covenant’ prophecies of Jeremiah and Ezekiel, the New Testament interpretations of these texts, particularly the letter to the Hebrews. Based on biblical-theological observations and a concise evaluation of the so called New Perspective on Paul, this article draws conclusions regarding the relationship between the Jewish people and the Christian church and the proper practice of infant baptism.
