Übersetzung als Manipulation der altschwedische 'Flores och Blanzeflor' und dessen Überlieferung im 15. Jahrhundert

Abstract

In the early 14^th century, the translation of three chivalric romances into Old Swedish (customarily known as Eufemiavisor) marked the beginning of literary production in the vernacular in medieval Sweden. Flores och Blanzeflor is held to be the youngest of the three translations. It has been established on textual evidence that the text was in all likelihood translated from the Old Norwegian Flóres saga ok Blankiflúr. Except for a short fragment dating from the mid-14^th century, the text is preserved in a number of 15^th- century compilation manuscripts. The aim of this essay is twofold: to illustrate and briefly discuss the most relevant peculiarities of the translated text – using the Descriptive Translation Studies approach as a methodological frame – and to make some observations on how the text might have been used and interpreted in the 15^th-century manuscripts as part of an intertextual dialogue involving a number of texts that showed thematic affinities.
