Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The text is single-spaced, 12 pt, uses italics instead of underline (with the exception of URLs), and all illustrations, figures, and tables should be present in the text, not at the end.
  • The file should be OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or a PDF-document.
  • The text conforms to stylistic and bibliographical demands as formulated under “Author Guidelines” under Submissions.
  • For a submission that falls under a peer reviewed section, please follow instructions as formulated in Ensuring an anonymous peer review.
  • The author has cleared all rights for the images used in their article.

Author Guidelines

Subtitles, Century Gothic 12, bold, lower-case letters

The main body of the text: Century Gothic 12 pt. Line-spacing exactly 16 pt. Document setup: top 2.5 cm, bottom 2.5 cm, inside 2.5 cm, outside 2.5 cm, justified. Header and footer 1.25 cm.

 

Indent quoted texts of greater than three lines or other texts which you think should stand out! Indent the entire passage, left margin at 1 cm right margin at 0.5 cm. The font is still Century Gothic, 12 pt, line-spacing exactly 16. Leave one line space between the top line and the main text as well as between the bottom line and main text. 

 

Use double opening and closing quotation marks – "straight quotes" – for all cases (including single words) except for quotes within quotes.  You usually find them under Insert –> Symbol –> Special Characters.

Indent the first line of each paragraph at 0.4 cm (except after a subtitle and indented block).

 

Please number neither pages nor sections. Referencing within the article should be done by providing page numbers instead of section numbers. 

Example: "To test this hypothesis, we conducted a Pearson correlation analysis between age-normalised RTs (see page 7) and attitude scores."

 

Referencing system

Please use APA Style for referencing.

Citing references in text, (name, year, page): This has been called a "harmony in pink and grey" (Karpeles, 2008, 107).

If the reference title is longer than one line use indent: hanging by 0.4 cm.

 

Please keep the language you use consistently in the whole article, including references. If the article is written in a Scandinavian language, use 'Utg.'/'Udg.' instead of 'Eds.' and 'I' instead of 'In' etc. 

For articles written in Dutch, German and English, change those terms accordingly, e.g. 'Uitg.', 'Hrsg.' and 'Eds.', respectively. 

 

Please consult the APA Style manual for other cases.

 

Photographs/Illustrations

If you want to include photographs in your article, please make sure you use the highest quality possible. 

 

Biographical note

Please provide some information about yourself: name, academic title, position/ occupation, institutional affiliation, email address. In addition you may also write something about educational background, research interests, publications. 

 

Summary 

Please provide a summary of 200-300 words in English.

 

Keywords

Please specify 4-10 keywords that are central in the article. The keywords should be in the same language as the text itself.

 

Submissions should not exceed 10.000 words.
