An introduction to this journal issue focusing on the problems of inequality faced by ethnic, religious, & other minority groups in the Netherlands. The discussion in educational psychology over unequal educational opportunities is now centered on family social & educational background & income; more research needs to be performed on the exact mechanisms by which parents exert influence on their children's educational achievement.
