Samenvatting

Children from lower socioeconomic status groups are less successful at school than those whose parents are well-educated. A literature review shows that differences both in academic achievement & choice of school (tracking) lead to different types of school careers. A theoretical framework is formulated to integrate empirical research findings about learning resources outside of school. Also discussed are the importance of grades as well as financial, cultural, & social support from families. 1 Table, 1 Figure. Adapted from the source document.
