Joop Ellemers is an outstanding representative of the Amsterdam (Netherlands) student generation of the immediate postwar period when there was a transition from sociography to sociology. He began his studies after WWII & later was a key participant in the large-scale social science study on the flooding in the southwestern Netherlands in 1953. In 1967, he published a key work on the development of Israeli society. Additionally, he was interested in questions of migration, colonization, & minority formation. M. Meeks
