Samenvatting

A study designed to determine the dimensions of the semantic diff'ial by a factorial analysis of scales and concepts. It is based on a methodology developed by J. Weima who, by introducing a distinction between the religious and the moral factor, obtained a clarification effect of variance of 86.0%, as against 48.4% when only a moral factor was used. A sample of 75 R's was admin'ed 18 concepts and 19 scales of 7 points, to test 2 hyp's: (1) the religious dimension, as defined operationally by J. Wetma, will disappear if the concept-scale interaction is broken; and (2) if there is a true concept-scale interaction, a new, religious dimension shall appear. From results presented in 3 tables, it is concluded: (A) hypothesis (1) is confirmed by Table I; (B) hyp (1) is rejected by Table III; and (C) Table III offers an alternative interpretation of hypothesis (2).
