Samenvatting

A comment on the Congress of the International Semiological Assoc. at the Amersfoort Coll. of Philosophy (Aug 1954). Attention of sociologists is drawn to this branch of linguistics, since sociological expertise is useful to semiologists and sociologists would benefit from the latest developments in linguistics. Language is playing an ever more important part in research on groups and interpersonal relations. The best introduction to semiology is Mannoury's booklet Signifies, (Service Series); of the papers read at the Congress, that of Alvin C. Leyton was a fine piece of sociological research in industrial relations on the basis of linguistic material. I. Langnas.
