A refutation of the article 'Anti Zetterberg'. Since that article was intended as a critical appraisal of the theories of the middle range, it is hardly permissible not to pay attention to other ideas in R. K. Merton's Social theory and social structure. It is shown that the article is controversial and contains ambiguous formulations in crucial places. It further places the relations between European and US sociology in an incorrect light; H. Zetterberg's contribution is overvalued and Merton still waits for a proper appraisal. Modified HA.
