A report on the 1960 Congress of the Social Interacademiale (the Inter-University Association of Dutch sociology Students). It was held at Woudschoten near Utrecht, and its theme was 'Isolation and COMM.' The chief speakers were: R. C. Kwant on 'The Philosophical Analysis of Isolation and Cooperation,' who defined them as 2 correlative concepts; E. Leemans, who spoke on the sociol'ly determinant factors of isolation and COMM in the light of P. Sorokin's theory of 'meaningful interaction'; J. Ex, who explained the quantitative and qualitative approaches to the study of isolation and COMM; and G. J. van den Berg, who explained the 2 concepts in terms of 'situation,' a concept which he developed in the light of modern geography. I. Langnas.
