Samenvatting

A report on the Paris Congress of the International Political Science Assoc. in Sept 1961. The themes were: (1) the importance of studying political behavior; (2) political problems of poly-ethnic states; (3) technocracy and the role of experts in political life; (4) relations between civilians and the military in foreign affairs; and (6) administrative problems of atomic energy. Contributors included: Jerzy Wiatr on political research on the local level in Poland; Stein Rokkan on problems of comparative research on political participation; R. Dahl on the behavioral approach in political science; D. Easton and R. Hess on the political world of the child; P. Converse and G. Dupeux on C. De Gaulle and D. D. Eisenhower-the political image of a victorious general; M. Dogan on the electoral behavior of French workers; W. Schilling on scientists, foreign policy and politics; P. Abrams on the officer as a dysfunctional element in military organization; and B. Akzin on 'pluralism' and 'integration' as alternative solutions in Israel. The book of J. Barents, Political science in western Europe - A trend report (London, 1961), was published as part of the Congress activities. I. Langnas.
