Samenvatting

An examination of the role of cadre personnel within the enterprise and in society as a whole with special reference to Belgium. The cadres have not yet been subject to the kind of sociological research required by their importance. In particular, their delimitation from management is still to be adequately established. Motivations of cadres are examined as determined in a Belgian study of the Productivity Service of the Louvain Center for Social Studies, from which the following working hyp's are deduced. Cadres are characterized by their small participation in social life outside of the enterprise. They are strongly affected by the technology of the enterprise; they are less influenced than workers by financial incentives. Their chief motivations are connected with the power and authority relations within the enterprise, and they often exhibit a 'blind faith' in the enterprise which employs them. 1. Langnas.
