A discussion of sociological aspects of the law. 2 alternative views are presented. One views the law primarily as a system of norms; the other as an instit designed to stabilize the life of society. These 2 views are applied to the following themes: (1) legal norms as bases of validity; (2) the problem of social order; (3) the social function of law; and (4) the task of the sociol of law.
