Samenvatting

Comments are made by J.P. Pronk and J.S. Waardenburg on an article by J. C. Breman and E. W. Hommes "Sociology and Development Policies in Non-Western Societies," (Sociologische Gids, 1967, 14, 3, May-Jun, 158-174). A differentiated planning system is not advocated and it is considered unwise for economists to advance the idea that development depends only on increase in capital and in technical knowledge. To fill this omission a 3-phase planning scheme is proposed (J. Tinbergen: Development programing, Utrecht, The Netherlands: Wereld Akademie Reeks, 1967): (1) Macro -the national income to be reached, (2) Middle - the division of the economy into different fields (agriculture, education, health services), each in relation to the national goals, and (3) Micro - the selection of investment projects within each field. The importance of the sociologists in this plan lies in the microphase where they provide information for the realization of the plan. In Commentaar op commentaar a reaction by J. C. Breman and E. W. Hommes. Modified AA.
