De Nederlandsche staatsburger: toeschouwer of medespeler? Partij-activiteit en opvattingen over politieke participatie

Samenvatting

A report on a survey designed to determine the degree of the participation of Dutch citizens in the government of their country. The survey was part of a larger study of the Dutch general elections of 1967, made by a team which included the author and published as De Nederlandse kiezers in 1967 (The Dutch Voters in 1967; Amsterdam: Elsevier, 1967). 3 hyp's were tested: (1) party activities of voters increase with their political participation; (2) party activities are related to concepts of actual and desired participation; and (3) the choice of party is related to party activities of voters. The data of the survey are subjected to a factorial analysis, with results offered in 6 tables and 6 schemes. It is concluded that: (a) party choice in 1967 was related to party activities; (b) party choice in 1967 was related to concepts of actual and desired participation; and (c) party activity was related to political participation.
