A study of FP in the Dutch city of Utrecht. FP must be viewed within a framework of a falling Dutch birth rate (from 20. 7% in 1964 to 19. 2% in 1966, an all-time low). In Utrecht it is based on a survey of 92 F's (with 12.5 non-response). The following signif results were obtained: 13% had no children, 27% one, 51% 2 and 9% 3; the most popular contraception methods were: coitus interruptus 30%, rhythm 27%, pill 25%, condom 20%; there is a positive relation between the waiting period for the 1st and the 2nd child; 24% wanted no more children; the ideal N of children was 2. 8 before marriage, 3. 0 5 years after; the largest proportion of F's who wanted to have had their 1st child later was in the under 20 age group, where 58% of the marriages were forced; approval of birth control varied from 88% (agnostics) to 75% (Catholics and Dutch Reformed) and was highest in upper social strata; working F's had a lower fertility rate: 1.0.
