Samenvatting

A review of the literature on coalition formation is presented. The minimum power theory (who is pivotal in forming a coalition) and the minimum resource theory (outcomes have to be divided proportionately to the resources put into the coalition) appear to be the most prominent explanations for coalition behavior centered around the various weights of players. The research done on coalition behavior in political context indicates that the minimum resource theory can explain behavior in these situations. 1 figure. AA.
