To demonstrate that there is no direct relationship between an increase or decrease of birth-rate & the evolution of economy, the theories of T. Malthus, J. M. Keynes, W. B. Reddaway, A. Sauvy & the French school, & H. Wandler are reviewed. These theories are examined with regard to the demographic & economic situation of the postwar Netherlands (1945-1960) & the period between 1960 & 1970.
