Samenvatting

A review of the evolution of the concept of sociological training, since WWII. Sociological training should not include indoctrination in a particular orientation, & students should make their choice freely, based on personal taste, & social & scientific criteria. 3 fundamental requirements must be met in good sociological training: (1) students should acquire knowledge of the main paradigms of sociology & should completely master at least 1 paradigm, (2) students should receive thorough training in the methods & techniques used by sociology (including the principles of statistics), & (3) students should become conscious of sociology's responsibility within society.
