Samenvatting

Concern is with an investigation conducted by A. P. M. Lancee & B. J. P. Riesewijk (Mar-Apr 1971) in Nijmegen, to determine the professional motivations of nursing students. 224 F students of 3 hospitals were interviewed (the N of M students was too small to be taken into consideration). In an attempt to determine which elements motivated the choice of the nursing students, lists of values with regard to the choice of profession were established & analyzed by factor-analysis & typology-construction. Based on this analysis, indications are that individual independence is valued higher in the higher levels of society; the effect of "vocation" decreases as students proceed with their nursing studies & at the same time individual independence becomes more important. 7 Tables.
