Samenvatting

To estimate attitude-aspects, it makes a difference if, as a probationer, one belongs to a satisfying or unsatisfying training group, ie, nursing. This was discovered by a simple multilevel design, which also illustrates what meaning the context has for a sociological explanation. From individual satisfaction scores, analytical group characteristics are constructed. These, together with the individual satisfaction-scores, are used in a contextual analysis to see how a certain attitude is influenced by the group characteristic as well by the individual characteristic. The explanation for the contextual effect is found in the intercourse-patterns in the group &/or outside of the group. Via such interaction processes the (group) context derives its meaning & contributes to agreement or disagreement with an offered attitude-aspect. Hence, probationers were characterized by their amount of interaction within the group (group orientation) & outside the group (outside-orientation). Such orientation-indicators make it possible to show, empirically, the double importance of the context. 4 Figures, 4 Tables. Modified AA.
