A theory of society that is sufficiently complex to meet today's standards cannot be deductively evolved from a single concept. Attempts in the nineteenth & twentieth centuries at developing a theory of society resulted in three super-theories: (1) system, (2) evolution, & (3) communication. The fundamental concepts of these theories are defined, explicitly or implicitly, in terms of themselves & therefore lead to logical & methodological problems. They are defined in a highly abstract way so as to be easily related to the concepts of organic theories, organic evolution, cybernetics, & information theory. These theories need each other to become more concrete. A theory of society that combines the three super-theories should be elaborated. Modified HA.
