Samenvatting

Refuted are criticisms of R. Roe's Links en Rechts in een empirische perspectief ([Left and Right in an Empirical Perspective] Amsterdam: 1975) by C. Middendorp ('Boekbespreking' [Book Review], Sociologische Gids, 1976, 23, 5, 319-324). It is argued that Middendorp gives a distorted picture of the book, that he misunderstands the object of the investigation, & that he is not sufficiently aware of the methodology involved. Middendorp confuses the methodological choice of the investigating political attitude along a 'one-dimensional,' left-right axis & the theoretical reduction of all attitudes to that axis. A. O.
