Samenvatting

An answer to W. Buckley's question: 'Why has sociology remained virtually untouched by the interdisciplinary generalizing & integrating potential of newer systems theory?' is sought in the object of sociology (Sociology and Modern Systems Theory, Englewood Cliffs, NJ: Prentice Hall, 1967). Due to the complexity of social systems, application of the systems approach to the study of these systems appears difficult & sometimes disappointing. In the last decade developments in systems theory & systems methodology leading to increased applicability took place-a problem shift toward the more complex systems, & development of methods of model construction & simulation better adapted to the specific character of social systems. Modified HA.
