A report of research on the concern of residents of a region of the Netherlands with a series of social actions (1966-1978) geared to environmental protection. The number of participants in such actions & their supporters increased during the period under study. In their efforts to influence local government, participants before 1970 were mainly supported by advice from outside experts.
