Commentaar op 'Tepoztlan en Staphorst' van R. J. de Jongh

R. J. de Jongh espouses the value of reproducing sociological & anthropological studies to test their reliability, giving as examples studies conducted in Tepoztlan, Mexico, & Staphorst, the Netherlands. Although reinvestigations of this type are certainly valuable, de Jongh's analysis is unclear & incomplete. In Het blijft behelpen: een antwoord aan Papousek (We Keep Plodding Along: An Answer to Papousek), R. J. de Jongh reproaches Papousek for having misinterpreted, or simply missed, certain points of his analysis. A cooperative study in Staphorst is suggested to clear up the misunderstanding. It is admitted that reanalyses conducted to determine methodological validity serve little purpose if there is no agreement on evaluation criteria.
