Samenvatting

Contemporary Dutch SE theory, oriented largely toward a modified socialist economy has paid little attention to the problems of the small business, often overshadowed by government interaction with larger firms. One result of this was a decrease in the number of small businesses during the 1950s & 1960s. The recent reversal of this trend seems to refute the Marxist concepts of the polarization of capital & work, & of the squeezing out of the Mc. The position of small businessmen in the Netherlands is socially & economically distinct from that of independent farmers & the capitalist elites. M. Meeks.
