Samenvatting

Growing participation in small businesses & self-employment by Dutch men has worsened the burden of their wives, who must both work for the family business & perform household chores. Various task-sharing models are presented, with special emphasis on the cost-use theory (Kelley, H. H. & Thibaut, J. W., Interpersonal Relations. A Theory of Interdependence, New York, 1978). The most important distinction to make in any theoretical framework is that between division of different tasks according to gender, & the sharing of the same tasks by both spouses. 21 References. M.
