Samenvatting

From its inception in 1965 until the late 1970s, the sociology of homosexuality in the Netherlands was heavily informed by essentialist psychology & focused on the interplay of social discrimination & individual deviance. The political version of this current defended the integration of the homosexual into Dutch society. These "integration politics" came under attack in the mid-1970s as a result of their own success, the critique of new radical gay & lesbian movements, & the advance of a new theoretical approach. "Normal but not the same" became the new hallmark of gay politics, resulting in the establishment of interdisciplinary departments for gay studies at some Dutch Us (Amsterdam, Utrecht) in the 1980s. Gay studies today are strongly influenced by "constructionist" theoretical approaches, & have contributed to the development of educational facilities. 80 References. Modified HA
