Samenvatting

An argument for the advantages of combining different methods of concept formation & data collection in a research project ("triangulation") is illustrated by case studies of four research projects on the occurrence, causes, & personal experiences of loneliness. Insight into this phenomenon gained from interpretive methods is extended through structured questionnaire data from a representative sample of the Dutch population (N = 556). 21 References.
