Debates over the scientific value of qualitative & quantitative methods of research date back to the time of Max Weber & Emile Durkheim. The difference between the quantitative survey, the qualitative survey, & qualitative research may be typified by their respective emphasis on the stimulus presented by the research, the interpretation given to it by subjects, or the response it evokes from them. Qualitative research may improve its output & impact if researchers clearly present their pre-existing knowledge & if they mention changes in this knowledge caused by research outcomes. 5 References.
