A discussion of the validity of the conclusions reached by J. van Houwelingen, F. Tazelaar, & A. Verbeek as reported in "Werkloosheid, gezondheid en sterfte in naoorlogs Nederland" (Unemployment, Health, and Mortality in Post-War Netherlands [see SA 32:3/84O0139]). A reformulation of their main conclusion is suggested, based on a recalculation of the statistics used. Their recommendation for microsociological research regarding support for specific groups is reinforced. 2 Tables. M. Barker
