A review essay of a book by Bart van Heerikhuizen (W. A. Bonger, socioloog en socialist [W. A. Bonger, Sociologist and Socialist], Groningen: Wolfers Noordhoff, 1987 [see listing in IRPS No. 48]). A short history of Bonger's life is provided, which van Heerikhuizen did not offer in this biography. A few points van Heerikhuizen did not touch on or misinterpreted are noted, & Bonger's status as a socialist &, especially, as a criminologist are reviewed in depth. M. Barker
