An overview is presented of the theory & methodology of research on crime prevention. Doubts about the social control & lifestyle exposure theories are addressed. Aside from theoretical difficulties, it is hard to judge the effectiveness of measures taken by various crime prevention projects because most have not been thoroughly evaluated.
