Samenvatting

The correlation between youth subcultures & political attitudes is investigated, utilizing questionnaire data from Dutch high school & university students (N = 288) in 1985/1986. Analysis reveals two poles of political thought: with one extreme consisting of punks (krakers) with socially critical left-wing opinions & little trust in the bourgeois establishment or in the nation's future; & the other of groups with a rightist political orientation, agreeing with the status quo, & optimistic about the development of Dutch bourgeois society.
