Samenvatting

H. A. Becker's "Generaties" ([Generations] Hollands Maandblad, 1985, 26, 4, 14-25) postulates four distinct generations in the Netherlands in terms of value orientations, beliefs, & attitudes: (1) the prewar generation, born 1910-1930; (2) the silent generation, born 1930-1940; (3) the protest generation, born 1940-1955; & (4) the lost generation, born after 1955. Examination of data from a national survey (Felling, A., Peters, J., & Schreuder, O., Religion in Dutch Society 85: Attitudes in 1985, Amsterdam: Steinmetz Archive, 1987) reveals sharp distinctions between the hypothesized generations, empirically supporting Becker's thesis. 1 Table, 8 Figures, 1 Appendix, 22 References.
