To determine whether the Dutch viewed recent cuts in unemployment benefits as fair, telephone interview data were gathered from adults (N = 806) in June 1990. Equity theory & relative deprivation theory would suggest that those who judged cuts as fair would be those who earned little themselves, but this was not the case.
