Marginaal: Armoede en gettovorming in Nederland

Samenvatting

An introductory article is presented for this journal issue (see related abstracts in SA 39:4) dedicated to the theme of poverty in the Netherlands. Although many are inclined to think that poverty is minimal in the Dutch welfare state, current statistics show that from 10% to 17% of the people may be classified as poor. Moreover, their numbers continue to grow. Key groups affected by poverty include the elderly, single mothers, & the unemployed. Special attention is given to the plight of minorities & to the feminization of poverty. 10 References. M. Meeks
